She caught him peaking in the mirror as she slipped out of her “uniform” into a pair of jeans.
An enormous wad of cash in an envelope sat between them. Never had she seen so much all at once. Years had been stolen from her. Now she was free to explore her own interests, her own passions.
She looked over at Michael, a touch of gray at the temples. He was still handsome, though working for the man had taken its toll. They had made the decision to sell six months ago. No more 9 to 5. No more mortgage. Answering the siren call for the endless road trip, their adventure begins.
So that was my flash fiction entry for Flash Fiction Mondays. Check out their website!
They give you the first line and a picture and you come up with the story. Thanks to Emily Livingstone who clued me in to this fun story prompt. Speaking of Emily...she just earned her first publication credit. Both she and my other good friend, M.C. Colby, are now published in Black Petals online magazine. To read their fantastic horror fiction, check out their stories here: http://blackpetalsks.tripod.com/blackpetalsissue70/
They are both very talented writers and I am sure you will see more of them in the future.
Keep on writing!
